VPN Server as Cloud Computing Service

Many embedded system applications need an IP-based infrastructure with a backend server. A typical example is the set-up of an OpenVPN-protected network for remote maintenance (teleservice).

In order that embedded systems and remote maintenance computers find each other to establish a VPN, at least one server with a fix IP address or a DynDNS account is required. Such a (virtual) server can be operated e.g. as a cloud service. For the Amazon cloud service EC2 an image with VPN management interface is now available.

IP Gateways for the Smart Grid

In the future power supply as well as communication networks will merge to the so called "Smart Grid". This creates an intelligent and efficient supply system, which can be seen as the "Internet of energy". The intelligent electronic cross-linking of all components of the energy system requires performant, flexible and robust IP gateways.

The development and field test of an IP gateway for Smart Grid applications is pushed by us since two years in the scope of the BMWi-supported DEMAX project. The meanwhile available platform on the basis of a power saving ARM9 hardware with embedded Linux operating system is currently tested in a field study.

Remote Access Gateways with DIL/NetPC ADNP/9200

For VPN-protected remote access to automation components with serial or Industrial Ethernet interfaces we offer different remote access gateways on the basis of the DIL/NetPC ADNP/9200 with many software functions.

Beside OpenVPN there are various proxy server functions for e.g. to access via VPN tunnel the Telnet- or FTP server of an switch cabinet, machine or facility LAN. In addition it is possible to map the serial interfaces on TCP ports to allow the communication via Internet also with not IP-capable field components.
