DNP/2486 and eSOM/2586: Java makes IndependentJava is among others because of its platform independence very popular in the IT-world (write once, run anywhere = WORA). This advantage can be also used with embedded systems. So the biggest part of complex embedded software can be coded completely hardware independant and is also reusable in future. Klaus-Dieter Walter wrote a very detailed essay about this topic, which was published a few weeks before in the German trade magazine Elektronik. |

Whitepaper about Embedded Cloud ComputingThe successful operation of embedded systems under field conditions requires currently a very high proportion of own development achievement. By reason of the integration of cloud-based client functionality into the operating system of a 32-bit embedded system the time and costs for the development can be reduced distinctly. In conclusion every single embedded system owns also an embedded infrastructure. So various tasks like e.g. condition monitoring or the VPN-based remote access for maintenance can be effectively managed without using own development resources.

Energy Monitoring in Functional Buildings with the MGW/920In public buildings, hotels, administrations and department stores a lot of energy is wasted due to careless behavior. A detailed monitoring - the requirement for efficient energy saving measures - is normally not available. The MGW/920 is right now available with preinstalled monitoring software, which is able to gather data via M-Bus from up to ten consumption meters. This consumption data can be viewed with a browser in a local database or - with help of a cloud service - on a monitoring server in the Web.
