Within the Embedded Gateway Linux 2 (EGL/2) of the Com/PC a Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE 1.5) is stored innately. Therwith it is possible to execute Java applications on the Com/PC. For the development a workstation with an installed Java Development Kit (J2SE) is needed.

The finished Java classes or JAR files are saved on the CompactFlash card of the Com/PC from where they are started. To develop Java applications you can use IDEs like Eclipse or NetBeans.
