Wenn man einen TCP-Server in C für einen DIL/NetPC programmieren möchte, so kann man die Programmierung zunächst auf einem Windows-PC unter Cygwin durchführen. Hier lässt sich ein solcher Server mit deutlich geringerem Zeitaufwand testen. Der C-Quellcode kann später problemlos mit dem GCC für den DIL/NetPC übersetzt werden.

Vorsicht ist nur bei der Auswahl der TCP-Socketnummer angebracht. Ein Windows-PC benutzt von Haus aus viele Socketnummern, die auf einem DIL/NetPC frei zur Verfügung stehen. Zur Not hift TCPview, um eine Übersicht der Sockets für einen Windows-PC zu erzeugen (siehe hierzu auch http://www.dilnetpc.com/mHT1520A-96.pdf ).
