Smart Metering Gateway MGW/920Increasingly, heat meters, water meters and energy and gas meters are being provided with specialized M-bus interfaces for remote metering. If you couple these types of counters with an IP network like the Internet, a host of new billing and evaluation options are opened up to customers and energy suppliers. At the same time, cost transparency increases thanks to real-time-capable metering and evaluation intervals. SSV Embedded Systems has developed the compact MGW/920 gateway box for these types of AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) applications. The standard interfaces are a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN interface and an M-bus master interface pursuant to EN13757 for connection to up to 10 external consumer counters. The maximum distance between an MGW/920 and an M-bus-capable energy meter can be up to 10 km. The connection to the Internet can be either via an Ethernet LAN using a DSL router or via an optional GPRS modem using the GSM cellular network. Depending on the application, various software modules can be installed on the MGW/920. On request, an integrated firewall and a VPN communication module, to protect data transmission on the Internet from unauthorized access, can be included. The configuration of all software components is carried out via a web-based interface over an Ethernet LAN. The MGW/920 makes possible real-time-capable billing systems for decentralized properties, AMR and M2M solutions for consumption data monitoring and smart metering application as per EU Guideline 2006/32/EC on "Energy End-Use Efficiency and Energy Services". |
